The Scottish Fishermen's Trust is a charity established to enable individuals and organisations to receive funding for projects related to the marine environment, education and safety at sea. Recently, the Trust has supported the fishing industry by awarding grants from ring-fenced funds for the enhancement of stability records for fishing vessels undertaking guard vessel work and also the training of fishermen on the latest version of the FishSAFE unit. The Trust has also approved individual awards to fishermen to support their deck officer (skipper and mate) and engineering training as well as providing bursary support for students and backing for other educational projects such as the new library at University of Aberdeen.
